I agree with the way Curtis handled himself. Cameron put his son in Karate and the "bully" (his step brother) backed off immediately. He even leaves his sister alone, but if you need to use force, then use it! but maybe go talk to the Principal so that he knows that there is a problem and then if you have to use force, then at least there are 2 accounts of whats happening.

I'm on Curty's side too ... I know he has a heart of gold and no mean streak. Bullies are everywhere ... even in families sometimes ... and it is too bad they have that need to feel powerful at someone else's expense. It sounds like this other boy's parents aren't helping him learn anything either ... pressing charges ... stupid!

Bullying is definitely a major problem in schools these days. It scares me to think about it as my kids are getting older. Luca's school talks about it a lot and they have already had a couple of assemblies about it...in elementary!

That is too bad for Curtis, but I agree that he is not in the wrong. You have to be able to defend yourself. I wonder how far the school or this other boys parents expect it to go before they think it would be okay for Curtis to defend himself.

Let us know how it goes.

When a person initiates force against another person it is them and only them who are at fault for what occurs. Having had myself in this same situation I personally kicked the @$$ of one kid over the course of two days. I doubt I'd want my own child to do that in response to that type of aggression but you have to be able to know when to stop...when responding to aggression becomes a form of aggression itself. I'm for betting on the safe side and landing a punch anyway...the bravery to do so will enable him one day to stand up for someone else who can't defend himself. Sometimes there is virtue in a smack-down.
